As I recently decided to move into the growth marketing world, I realized that one of the skills I would need is copywriting. Writing, as well as creating content, designing landing pages, creating A/B tests - these are all very useful skills. And not only in growth marketing but in general.
Writing is a skill that will come in handy no matter your work or surroundings.
Writing helps you clear your mind, communicate your thoughts more clearly, and it forces you to think before letting these thoughts out. This in turn helps you manage stress better, as you train yourself to remain calm and think things through before reacting.
I am aware of the importance of writing, what am I gonna do about it?
Well, the first step was starting this blog. This website used to only have information about me and my work, but I realized it was basically a replica of my LinkedIn profile (or my CV). So I decided to change it up, and add more of a “blog” feel to it.
This website will still contain my work history and information, projects I’ve done, companies I worked with. But I will focus more on creating content, writing blog posts and useful resources, sharing my thoughts on things that interest me.
Topics like growth marketing, startups, tech, productivity, personal finance will be a regular occurrence on my website.
To “force” myself to start writing and build a habit, I am going to start writing every day, for at least 20 minutes. It doesn’t have to be anything serious, it doesn’t even have to be a potential blog post. It can be about anything. The point is to start writing and build a habit of sitting down in front of my computer and put my thoughts out there. Some days I am going to be writing a future blog post, and some days I am gonna be writing about something that happened that day because I won’t have the inspiration to write “something useful”. I am not going to force any rules on myself regarding the topics I am writing about, only that I need to write every day for at least 20 min.
That’s it. Hopefully, I will be able to keep up and build that habit, because I believe it will benefit me in a big way in the future.
See you in the next one!
